On November 3rd and 4th, the YMCA of the North Shore held its 11th Annual Reid Sacco Invitational Trials/Finals Swim Meet at the YMCA. Hundreds of young competitive swimmers attempt to set new personal and team records, and to qualify for national championships.
From pool deck, Lorraine addressed the assembled swimmers, coaches, swim officials, and parents with a brief speech.
“As a parent of a swimmer, I can appreciate your relentless pursuit of the next milestone in your journey to reach your ultimate goal as a competitive swimmer and a member of a team. Most likely, that goal is to break your own personal or team record time and perhaps to break a state or national record time.
Similar to your reaching your next milestone, the Reid R Sacco AYA Cancer Alliance has met yet another milestone in helping adolescents and young adults like yourselves. The Alliance is now a proud YMCA Corner Stone. That means we are partnering with the YMCA to provide a support system for the health and well-being of families afflicted with cancer. We are proud to help bring that support to the community as part of the YMCA Family.
I hope today, all of you achieve your next milestone and goal. Always know that your YMCA swim teams will be there to support you, as only YMCA families can.
Good luck and be proud that you are an elite athlete. We are certainly proud of you.”
The YMCA presented Lorraine with a generous donation to the ECCF/Reid Sacco AYA Cancer Fund.
