The 7th Annual Reid's Ride will be held on Sunday, July 17, 2011.

If you haven't already registered, you can do so online at www.ReidsRide.org up until 6PM on Saturday, July 16.

You can also register in person the morning of the Ride.  Just go to the "Same Day" registration tables.  But you should plan to arrive no later than 7AM, to make sure you get your tee-shirt and are ready to launch around 7:30 AM.

The Reid's Ride 28-mile Bike-a-thon, held each July, is the fundraising event for the Foundation.  Proceeds from the event benefit the ECCF/Reid Sacco Cancer Research Fund and its commitment to supporting innovative clinical and scientific research directed at finding better treatments for the cancers that strike adolescents and young adults.

While undergoing intensive treatment for his cancer, Reid told us that one of his dreams had become to ride in a cycling event to raise money for cancer research.  Later that year, he would lose a leg to the cancer, but he insisted that we find a way to make his participation in such an event possible.

When he passed away in April 2005, his mom immediately began planning a bike-a-thon, in his memory, to support the cause that he so dearly wanted to live to see realized.  Coincidence or not, the first Reid's Ride was held on Sunday, July 24, 2005.  That date would have been his 21st birthday.
